Kronos Digital Warranty Policy

At Kronos Digital, our aim is to try to help reduce the generation of electronic waste, and in relation to sales of consumer electronics, this means that any electronic goods sold under the Kronos Digital moniker are prepared with longevity in mind.

We take great care in making sure any electronics sold in store or online are up to a high standard, and to give some additional peace of mind, you will often see up to a two-year warranty included with the product, as stated on the online product listing or in store.

A device sold and warrantied under the Kronos Digital moniker will never knowingly be sold with non-functioning parts and, likewise, any parts with damage, faults or manufacturer defects will be replaced prior to sale.

In very select circumstances, devices may be sold without warranty in place, and any reasons for this will be clearly explained and marked as per the policy.

What Does My Warranty Cover?

The provided warranty is intended to protect the end user against the unexpected failure of hardware purchased from Kronos Digital Technologies in store or online. With the exceptions as stated in the "Exclusions" section, this includes

  1.  Failures of workmanship related to improper installation of replaced or original parts or an issue with device hardware that was not realised prior to the sale of the device

  2.  Failure of internal parts of a device causing the device to either function not as intended or not function at all

  3.  Errors or crashes related to system hardware configuration (such as Blue Screen errors not caused by software configuration)

  4.  Failure of peripherals/accessories supplied with the device, such as keyboards, mice, chargers, wall adapters, where not caused accidentally or maliciously as described in the "Exclusions" section of the policy

Exclusions

We firmly believe that the ability to maintain & repair your own devices should be a fundamental right provided with the purchase of electronic goods, so you will never see tamper stickers added to devices we sell if the device has been opened by us during the process of refurbishment, except in situations where it is applied by the manufacturer itself.

However, there are select circumstances in which the provided warranty will not be applicable, detailed below:

1 - Accidental or Deliberate Damage

In situations where damage caused to a device has clearly & obviously not been caused by a malfunction of the product in its intended use, including (but not limited to)

  1.  Damage caused by a drop or fall

  2.  Damage caused by liquid ingress

  3.  Where the cause of damage is intentional, malicious or reckless

  4.  Where the end-user has attempted a repair which was unsuccessful or has caused the product to fail

In relation to point 1(3), while we fully support the ability to maintain & repair your own devices, if you are not comfortable or confident with the process of repair in any given situation, please seek help before attempting the repair yourself.

2 - Cosmetic Damage

Cosmetic damage is defined as damage which does not generally impact the usability of the device, and in some cases this type of damage may also fall under section 1. This includes (but is not limited to)

  1. Scratches on the device

  2.  Cracks to glass and/or plastic chassis or frame

  3.  Breaks to glass and/or plastic chassis or frame

  4.  Dents to metal and/or plastic chassis or frame

  5.  Wear of textured surfaces

  6.  Wear of keyboard lettering

3 - Hinges & Displays

Hinges (most commonly on laptops), with careful use, should last for the usable lifetime of the device, however they are considered wear parts and, therefore, will not be covered by warranty.

Similarly, displays (in relation to laptops, mobile phones and monitors) are expected to last the lifetime of the device barring accidental or deliberate (as in section 1) damage to the display panel itself. This includes (but is not limited to)

  1.  Cracks to display glass or plastic

  2.  Scratches to display glass or plastic

  3.  LCD bleeding (seen as dark blotches on the screen)

  4.  Dead or missing pixels

4 - Wear Parts

Any part considered a "wear part" will gradually deteriorate with normal use and, therefore, is not covered by a warranty unless there is a manufacturer warranty in place for that particular part, which will supersede the warranty provided by Kronos Digital. These include (but are not limited to)

  1.  Laptop or Mobile Phone hinges (as per section 3)

  2.  Data storage parts - Hard Disk Drives, Solid State Drives, Solid State Hybrid Drives, eMMC Drives, Flash Drives

  3.  Batteries (except devices with "Brand New Battery" as stated in listing, where a manufacturer warranty is applied

5 - Software Configuration & Performance

The provided warranty is designed to cover issues with hardware and, therefore, does not extend to issues related to software configuration or problems with performance in relation to software configuration.

Electronics devices are sold, where possible, with their intended operating system as supplied by the original equipment manufacturer, or the latest compatible upgraded version of the same operating system. They are set up for optimal usage "out of the box" with the minimum software and drivers required to run as intended without any additional software added pre-purchase.
Any additional configuration by the end user is at their own discretion. Therefore, the warranty will not cover

  1.  Malware or viruses
  2.  Performance issues related to software configuration, e.g. malware (as above), programs causing slowdown, alterations to system registry, or alterations to the supplied operating system
  3.  Errors (e.g Blue Screen errors) or crashes related to software configuration

If you are uncertain about any of the above information or would like to check whether an issue you are having is covered by our warranty, do not hesitate to contact the store and we will be happy to advise.
